If you search for beautiful and creatively styled homes and interior inspiration, it is hard not to come across Emily Henderson. She is well known as the host of HGTV’s Secrets from a Stylist, where she transforms real people’s homes based on their personality, using her famous “Style Diagnostic”. But more than that, Emily is an interior designer, blogger, stylist, and author of the New York Times best-selling book Styled: Secrets for Arranging Rooms, from Tabletops to Bookshelves.

She has managed to develop her own impeccable style, especially when it comes to designing and styling homes. She has made herself a name as the home style expert with a strong commitment to creating beautiful homes that represent the personality of its owner, no matter what the budget. Emily knows how to blend bright colors, bold patterns, and antique pieces to transform everyone’s home into a functional, stylish and yet cozy space.

“I believe a home should look like the person that inhabits it, not a catalog, not what you think others would like — but really, truly like you.”Emily Henderson

But how did it all start?

After Emily earned her liberal arts degree in Oregon, she quickly moved across the country to start her career in the Big Apple. There, she began working at Jonathan Adler and then as an assistant for renowned stylist Cindy DiPrima for 4 years. You could call her decision to participate in the fifth season of the HGTV show ‘Design Star’ in 2009 her breakthrough; she won and that propelled her towards success and fame. Over the years, she has done work as a prop stylist and has infused personality into commercial spaces for both magazines and advertisements. Beyond that, she also started working as a spokesperson for Target Home.
